How the smartphone fits in the last second of history
Claude Opus 5.5 squeezed all of human invention into a single 24-hour day, in one animated video with its own original score, made from a single prompt. Stone tools show up just after midnight, writing lands at 23:57, the steam engine at 23:59:51, and the smartphone arrives half a second before midnight.
Laid out on one clock, the speed-up stops being a statistic and becomes something you can feel. Then it keeps going past midnight into what might come next.
