Why every new AI gets the pelican test
Asking a model to draw a pelican riding a bicycle in SVG has become a running benchmark for every new AI release. This one is Claude Sonnet 5.5 on its highest effort setting, from a single prompt for an animated 2D SVG.
It is a silly test on purpose. Pelicans and bikes are awkward to combine, so it shows how well a model reasons about shapes it rarely sees together.
