An AI-generated sketch drops a late night talk show host into an open world crime game.
He demolishes a tray of fried chicken in a strip mall dining room, hijacks a sedan under a full game HUD with a minimap and a wanted meter, and ends up at the controls of a private jet, still eating, still covered in sauce.
The joke only lands because the seams are gone. Compositing a game interface over photoreal footage of a recognizable person used to be a VFX house's job, and the reason this format is suddenly everywhere is that the hard part became the writing again. The premise is the whole production budget now.
