OpenAI confirmed it has been in safety-related talks with Anthropic and Google DeepMind for several weeks, responding to growing concern that AI poses economic and security risks. Meta launched a WhatsApp Business Tools MCP server that connects AI coding agents such as Claude, Cursor, Codex, and ChatGPT directly to the WhatsApp Business Platform. Developers can use these agents to automate tedious setup tasks, including creating accounts, verifying phone numbers, registering for API access, and editing messaging templates. Meta says the tool replaces a process that once required juggling multiple tools with simply chatting with an AI agent.

US data centers could consume nearly 18 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day by 2035, more than Germany and Japan combined, according to a new report from Bloomberg's NEF research unit. The forecast is nearly double the estimate issued just nine months earlier, reflecting how fast the AI boom is reshaping power demand. Grid-connected data centers alone are expected to drive roughly 15 billion cubic feet per day of additional power-sector gas demand through 2035.

Radical Ventures announced the first close of its Radical Breakouts Fund, a new late-stage AI investment vehicle that has already secured more than $1 billion in commitments. The firm calls it the largest venture capital fund ever raised in Canada, backed by institutional investors including the Public Sector Pension Investment Board and the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board. The fund will focus on late-stage AI bets as firms race to back breakout startups.

Rome-based cybersecurity startup Exein raised $270 million at a $1.7 billion valuation, becoming Europe's most valuable cybersecurity scaleup. The round was led by Headline, with participation from Sofina, Goldman Sachs, and existing investors including Balderton and Lakestar. Exein is building a foundation model for physical AI security, trained on telemetry from over two billion connected devices, to protect robots, drones, and other AI-powered machines from cyberattacks.

CADDi, a Japanese startup that sells AI software to help manufacturers organize their engineering and production data, raised a $114 million Series D at a $1.2 billion valuation. That marks a sharp jump from its $470 million valuation in March 2025, bringing total funding to over $300 million since its 2017 founding. CADDi was founded by industry veterans Yushiro Kato and Aki Kobashi, who previously worked at Apple and in management consulting, and builds a manufacturing-focused AI data platform for industrial teams.
